Saxophones in clubs
This used to be a massive thing in the 90’s and now seems to be a reappearance
Never understood it…Not sure what it brings to things?
Thinking back there was very much a type of club that it appealed to and appeared in, think it was cool back in the day thinking Venus and Angel Deelite vibes were strong but now I’m not so sure.
What are the kids getting out of it?
Can that question then be aimed at them in general with what are you getting out of nightclubs in general? A question I started to answer then sort of passed it by. Understandably they seem a very unhappy generation, I blame politics, patriarchy power and certain accommodations that should have not be denind/allowed BUT they do seem to have such strict rules for elements of fun that strictly classify what is good and what is bad.
a DaNcer clutches a blow up saxophone cropped close in to protect…
Handily queues up a tweet from a Vice journo that categorically states that clubs can be split into two camps
“Shit ones that allow photographers and pictures and cool ones that don’t allow either…”
Now my working knowledge of vice journos/Murdoch’s 5% is such that I think we can purely discount that as clickbait attention seeking…but that does feed into the ideas and research of consent and photographers’ roles in clubs, both then and in the future…which then leads into my idea about holding a roundtable club photography discussion, which I’m working on…
Interesting how these elements are coming together they make for intersecting times!!
