In a club in 1997 this….
Hello again and welcome to another sbh rambling, this week I’ve mainly been poking through the archive, (careful) and what did I find but these beauties from the last century…
What do you think? Some of you may recognise the performer; think they’ve made into being a household name now?
For those that don’t my wonderful filing system (a scribble on the outside of the development envelope) says that I’ve got it down as Ru Paul at Flamingos in 1997.
Which by my calculation is 10….15….nope its 25 years ago !
Fuck time…
Anyway, this is another case for the missing memory banks as I’ve got no memory of this whatsoever, the continuation of these missing memories is going to make it great for any books I might want to write about what I did in the future…
Isn’t aging great.
Did have a thought that maybe I should get you people to write the memories and I’ll just do the pictures??
A quick google finds nothing which is both reassuring and not reassuring in equal measures..
So I’ll have to go with what I can see from the negatives…It was shot on fuji film so must have known it was important, shot on 200 asa film as I think it may have been cheaper, think it was shot for one of the gay titles maybe Boyz, possibly APN or even Gay times as this was pre agency and I mainly skipped on as commissioned work…
I do seem to remember the other photographer but cannot remember names, very sorry if you’re reading this…but if you remember me then you’ll know why…Do wonder what their shots of me are like !!
As a bit of background for whatever reason, think I would have got the negs printed and sent the prints down to be scanned, cost 2:49 per film and I think I was driving a ford fiesta which was brilliant on petrol so that would have been a tenner (ish) for fuel, flash batteries, as it looks like I hammered it, were a price too so I’m not sure if I made any money…oh and all of this was shot on a Canon Eos 1n with a 28-70mm and Canon 550ez flash…and before you get on at me for quality issues the rephotographs are done this way for copyright reasons…don’t want too fine a detail on shots going out before the book..
Thank you for reading
Ciao Bella
