Woman in Q. Reverie
Do you remember those club musings in the Guardian Weekend a5 supplement from years ago, possibly the 2000’s?
If you did/don’t then amongst the listings they’d be a random story about nothingness…thought that was good so here’s my give it a go…
Was stood in the queue at M&S the other day in one of the hearts of the privilege Trafford/Cheshire belt, where some woman was trying to return some school shirts, she’d bought 3 months previous in the sale but now as back to school had reared it’s head she’d realised that they were the wrong size. The poor guy behind the till was getting a right mouthful, the rant started with the usual starting point of
“I cant believe…” “You should really tell people about that fact…”
blah.blah.blah
In my opinion this is all usually because of a couple of reasons…
they think their privilege will carry them through,
that ALL people think like them,
by being nasty will get their own way (I mean what sort of &^@£$% up person thinks that!?!?!)
didn’t engage brain before committing to a certain pathway,
This carry over into shouting at service staff in shops you see played out when people can’t alcohol and start shouting at bar staff/door people/attendants/etc in clubs and bars
I realise that this all may sound unkind but think if you’d been there, you possibly would have come to the same judgement.
She was probably the person who wanders into high end shops and then complains about the cost of handbags too…guessing she’d be gender crit too…and start conversations at dinner parties with I’m not racist but...there’s a type isn’t there…berating people who work in shops is usually just the tip of the iceberg…
Ah well I gave the person behind the till a laugh as I said:
“…it must be ‘hell’ working here… and in my loudest voice “…dealing with such irksome people…”
I mean dahling…judging by your shoes it surely looks like you can afford some manners…
Why are the privileged people so mean?
Appreciate your attention
Ciao Bella.
