Fashion

Well as promised last week, Here I am writing about the other side of sbh……Fashion ! (turn to the left)

ahem..

Here we are again and as promised I’m going with the first delve into the other side of the three headed nature of sbh and that’s fashion !!

Going to let you in on a little secret, well not much of one really, but I always wanted to be a fashion photographer alas confidence and circumstances didn’t let me pursue that dream fully, although I was able to shoot some fashion for various people during this time.

So when setting up sbh I knew that I wanted to shoot some fashion, I set up a couple of different ideas that I thought would fit a format and make it interesting more of a collab style approach.

Here’s one of those early soirees into fash working with a great model called Amy, which at the time I called the images Aimiiieee for added effect as I thought the images were firrrreeee !

I’ve picked out this one that sums up what I was thinking back then !

I think I based these images on a fashion shoot at the time, put together a mood board and emailed it then the resulting shoot had that in mind but not recreated…

Think this image has stood the test of time.

This was shot in 2012, which I now realise is nearly 10 years ago !

I thought I was a 30 something back then but I’m now pushing closer to 50 so that doesn’t add up, think I may be too old to shoot fashion now, not sure and I’m something. Think this statement gives you a handle on the fash silver bullet of the question of age!!!

Back to the image and looking at them now I do love the honesty which is presented in the image, the fragility and the rawness I think shines through, I was wanted to present an authenticity even though I hadn’t identified that factor back then, something is there that I wanted sbh to be about. Although this is a very rare departure into black and white for me, never really fitted with my work (always hated b&w club images !!!) but I believe it works for this image.

My thoughts are that good fashion photography comes from an energy, you see it in certain people and I definitely saw it in Amy and I hope that energy is translated into the image..

Good images always rely on collaboration, so I asked Amy for what she thought and she puts it as such…

Amy’s words are on the way as soon as she gets chance !!

Thanks for reading

Ciao Bella.
